Two weeks to take a song from conception to completion to competition!

Just a verse

This song was created for Game of Bands round 162 : "Multi-Part Songs"

A new country.
A new life.
Turning over a new leaf, as they say, but the leaf is stained and blackened with soot.

Mother is all by herself now.
Abandoned... or outgrown.
The factory is my mother now, as much as I hate to say it.

I wash the dust off every night, but it's always there the next day.
Working its way under my fingernails.

Towards the void
out of power
going nowhere
a 1000 miles an hour

set aside
forgotten by time
building nothing
dime by dime

the streets at night
aimless drifter
but what do I find

A glimpse at hope
an unturned stone
not just a woman
a love of my own

Under a clouded sky
life finds a way to thrive
the future is always bright
when you have found the light

never been here before
i've so much now to wake up for
never been out the door
to bask in the golden rays!

And just as swiftly as she came about, she was gone again.
Sweeping up all the joys and sucking up the colour out of the world.
The factory is my companion now, and i will let myself fall into its cold embrace.

Love is just a verse in the life of a working man.
