The King Without A Name

This song was created for Game of Bands round 215 : "Fairy Tales"

Lyrics:

In ancient times when people said
that "power lies in the name of men"
A pitiable, bastard child was born
son of a witch and whore.

And so he was born without name
half cursed, half blessed
wretched all the same.
The day he would reap
you'd die in your sleep.
Beware the Thief of Names.

Beware of the devil that lies in the unknown.
Repent of your sins and name your sons.
So fate may not breed another Thief of Names.

Don’t speak ill of him or he’ll turn you to ash,
he knows you well.
Don't ever give your name to the King without a Name.

One day like today, he went far off the streets
sneaked past the pits
into gardens green.
And there in the gardens alone at play
the young king he did see.

And thus they did meet. He asked his name.
The answer felt ill, what could he have said?
That night atop the throne there sat
a new King without a Name.

Beware of the devil that lies in the unknown.
Repent of your sins and name your sons.
So fate may not breed another Thief of Names.

Don’t speak ill of him or he’ll turn you to ash
he knows you well.
Don't ever give your name to the King without a Name.

And from the day he first arose
to sit on his throne he’s watched us all.
Don’t speak ill of him, he’ll turn you to ash
and you’ll have yourself to blame.

That's why we now all have our given names
from the moment you're born
you'll bear no shame.
So guard it well so you don’t become
another pawn in his game.

There once was a kid born without a name
and I was cursed to tell his tale.
Cause I am the mother of that child.
Of the King without, the Thief of
The King without a Name.
