The Beast in the Hollow Tree

This song was created for Game of Bands round 55 : "Vocals First"

Lyrics:

Verse:

In a land, a distant land so far from worldly
entered a man named John, from nor'esterly
who left a scent of muskiness and balsem
on the trail of that which man cannot believe

This gospel as he knew it, was outlandish but he said screw it
he was off to find the beast in the hollow tree.

Chorus:

Through spines from brush and mud and muck and peril
a lions heart padummed towards history
sure as shiny silver sparrows carved the heavens
only the death of him could cloak this mystery!

Refrain:

at the dawn of Glen he purged all of his sin...
and he landed at the foot of what he came for...

Verse 2:

He ripped through leagues of vines and lots of rubbish to her core
backhanding nymphs and goblins all the while
the guardians couldn't conquer his bad ass fuckin' heart
as they marched into his fury, single file

When the blood mist finally cleared, the tree came into focus
He screamed "KARATE KICK!" and the storm rolled in...

Chorus:

Through spines from brush and mud and muck and peril
a lions heart padummed towards history
sure as shiny silver sparrows carved the heavens
only the death of him could cloak this mystery!

Refrain:

A mighty demon split the earth with a bellowing war cry
pent up for longer than ten thousand years

Spoken word bridge:

It towered over the pine trees
just one toe could crush our hero
It's breath smelled like abortion
each talon resembled an axe blade

Eyes were cold like glaciers
Dandruff was like a snow drift
It's teeth "was" made of daggers
If it farts... we're all dead!

Verse 3 / Conclusion:

John wasted no time in retreating
Thanks Rah-Stam-Bah the beast was rather slow
if he'd only snagged a tuft of fur, a talon or a toe
The modern world would know
That the beast inside the hollow tree lives on...
