Two weeks to take a song from conception to completion to competition!

Tastes Sweet (But Not Quite Right)

This song was created for Game of Bands round 96 : "Odd Times and No Rhymes III"

Lyrics:

I'm observing ants with a magnifying glass
Don't mean to burn them alive
Don't think much of it. I talk a big game Empha
size consonants That never quite rhyme
Collect coils from cans crunch into coffee cups
So I get a special spring in my step
(not enough to lift my spirits
So i mix A.M. coffee with spirits)

I'm self- righteously rigid,
rigged from the beginning
Weighted dice, heavy,
They made me this way
So won't you carry me?

Don't test me I'm taut
The Pulling stretches while it constricts
I'm ready to snap
Yet not brave enough to separate
Chaos circles me like a coffee stirrer
I'm sour cream in the middle
Pink Splenda, not real shhhhhh

I'm just an ant
Bursting under the load
Of artificial sweetener
Forgetting where or why
I'm even carrying this.

Im tough, I like to believe
My chest puffs out further than the finish line
When I haven't even started.
If it's a slant
I hope it leads to an end.
If it's internal
I hope it's identical

So I can kill one part of me
And race from the other
Orange rage but cowardice

I'm self- righteously rigid,
rigged from the beginning
Weighted dice, heavy,
They made me this way
Permanent shadow in the pavement
Tastes sweet but not quite right
just carry me.
Please
Care for me
Shhhhhh.
