A Hundred Years

This song was created for Game of Bands round 96 : "Odd Times and No Rhymes III"

beneath the summer sky a pallid statue waits
Graffiti on his face, a bible in his hands
Proclaim the word of God, a nation raised defiant
Teenagers don't give a shit
the purpose undisclosed, a story long forgotten
A man who raised an army, fell to pieces, we remember minor details
But mostly it's a place for vagrants to defecate
But mostly it's a place to steer clear of
a hundred years will pass, the features start to flatten
The weathered weary solider has earned his final resting place
A vague pile of rubble with a tarnished plaque beside
A reminder of a man that no one really knew
