All Hallow's Eve
This song was created for Game of Bands round 104 : "Halloween"
Trees are thick. Deep woods surround.
Sun has set and night has found me.
Night above all nights in power.
Hallow's Eve, at midnight hour.
Paul and Silas, in their prison,
Sang of Christ, the Lord arisen,
But this night none shall hear my cries
'Till daylight comes and saints arise.
All around by shadows hidden
Monsters lurk, unchained, unbidden.
Quem patronum rogaturus,
Cum vix justus sit securus?
Still the saints above are sleeping.
As I walk in darkness, creeping.
I have no home I could hide in,
Just a coat that I reside in.
Stars and moon, my only blanket,
Any food, a mighty banquet.
Saints and martyrs teach me kindness.
Moon and stars dispel my blindness.
But darker things tonight are prowling;
Sky is black and wolves are howling.
Grant me many more tomorrows.
Shield me in this vale of sorrows.
Inter oves locum praesta,
Et ab haedis me sequestra.
