Simple Day in a Simple Life

This song was created for Game of Bands round 113 : "Once Upon a Time in the West"

Lyrics:

[verse 1]
These hills are wearing down
to the gravel in the river bed
and to the dust
way out on the horizon

Two hundred head a-grazin'
living off the land
Wasn't sure why I came here
but I got no other plans

[Chorus]
They will find our bones some day.
They will sing our songs.
They'll tell our stories to their children
and make it sound fun.
But they'll bottle up our memories
just to burn for the rest of their lives
and what I wonder most is...
Why?

[verse 2]
The deep red glow
at the setting of the sun
and the melting of the shadows
all into one

The moon rides high
a lantern strung 'tween the stars
all the light that we'll ever need
to get us through the dark

[Chorus]
They will find our bones some day.
They will sing our songs.
They'll tell our stories to their children
and make it sound fun.
But they'll bottle up our memories
just to burn for the rest of their lives
and what I wonder most is...
Why?

[verse 3]
A cool whisper through the trees
early morning rain starts to fall
Got leathers on my back
to keep me dry and warm

The sun climbs over the hills again
and our shadows are reborn
Another simple day in the simple life
of an old west dinosaur

[Chorus]
They will find our bones some day.
They will sing our songs.
They'll tell our stories to their children
and make it sound fun.
But they'll bottle up our memories
just to burn 'til the end of their time
and what I wonder most is...
Why?
[Exit]
