Florida Alone

This song was created for Game of Bands round 115 : "Florida Man"

She had wanted the simple life
so they said Florida was the sunshine state,
some oasis with palm trees and miniature flamingos

Rows of citrus trees tempting
their juices flowing from sugary sweet machines
a garden of sun and heat and green forever

She had visited Florida alone,
remnants of the ship were scattered between the mangroves

wooden splinters stretching upward into emerging twilight
around succulents the glass left behind by the storm

She was never suicidal, but was killing herself
Over the sink in the mirror
Placing pills into the palms of her hands
the cancer was dying
If only her children who forgot all about her, told her,
she was too wonderful to die
