We sent the signal
And little did we know
That the same stars we gaze upon
Gazed back in fear at us below

What others knew too well
Out there the greatest threat to life
Is now and always life itself

Turn away from the lights

The fear of the dark
Is what keeps us alive


They heard the message
Among the distant spheres
Now their armada’s taking off
An end to come in future years

No hope for peace left
Such is our universe
Too distant and too alien
No chance to trust each other’s words

In all these legion worlds so vast
Yet still too small
To ever fit us all
There are those stay out of sight
And the sad plight
Of those who shone too bright
