Kajikazawa

This song was created for Game of Bands round 223 : "Music Imitates Art"

Lyrics:

Inspired by Kajikazawa in Kai Province, from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai.

When the wind turns south
As the night becomes dawn
We must meet the waves
At the calm before the storm

My father took me by his side
He said "darling this is far from an easy life
So don't you slack, and work with pride
Today I show what we do to survive"

We walked for hours just to find the place
A lonely stretch of cliff overlooking the bay
The wind was fierce and it pained my face
But soon enough I got used to the salt and the spray

Those days were hard
And I was just a lamb
But thank you for being tough on me
Because it made me who I am

My father taught me how to cast the net
He said "darling cast it wide and straight ahead
Don't let this wind make you give up yet
Today you show me how far you've come instead"

I used to listen but I didn't speak
But by that river with my father I was truly free
I grew strong as he grew weak
Until one day he couldn't go on and he rejoined the sea

Those days were hard
Without his guiding hand
But thank you for being tough with me
Because it made me who I am

Days will be hard
But I don't give a damn
Because I had you to teach me
And it made me who I am

Now I've my own daughter by my side
And I tell her "darling this is far from an easy life
So don't you slack, and work with pride
Today I show what we do to survive"
